Graduating from Elam School of Fine Arts in Auckland in 2000, with a major in Sculpture, I was attracted by the potential of jewellery to become ‘wearable sculptures’. I furthered jewellery studies in Auckland, Christchurch and most recently jewellery and glasswork in Paris, France.
My Artistic focus is on the ‘process of making’. I am very aware of the ‘preciousness’ and intimacy that goes into creating jewellery. I feel a part of my creative energy remains within each work, creating individual pieces with characters of their own.
My influences are as varied as childhood fairytales, art school experiences and the raw natural beauty of New Zealand. Imagination becomes blurred with the past and becomes present in each piece of jewellery that I design and make.
